Oscar's Grind
A classic negative progression system, Oscar's Grind is a roulette system recommended for players with a big bakroll.
Oscar's Grind is best used with even money bets. You start betting with single unit bets on each successive loss, after an initial winning bet you increase your wager to two units. You keep wagering two units until another winning bet occurs. Now comes the thinking bit, your goal is to clear one unit on each series. Your wager should now be just enough to recoup all losses plus one unit.
Oscar's Grind Example;
- You wager a unit on an even money bet.
- The spins for the series are(L Loss, W Win, number next to letter is amount wagered, number in brackets is the number of unit you are down by:
L1(-1),L1(-2),L1(-3),W1(-3),L2(-5),L2(-7),L2(-9),W2(-9),L10(-19),L20(-39),W40(+1)
- At your initial win you are down 3 units and you increase your bets to two units.
- After the second win you are down 9, at this stage you need to determine your next wager so that you recover your losses with a winning bet.
- You would wager 10 units, 9 to cover your losses and one unit as profit.
- If you lose this hand you would have to recalculate your wager, you would be down 19 units (9+10) and you would increase your next wager to 20 units (19loss,1profit).
- In this example you win on the following hand where you need to wager 40 units to be in the black by one unit.
You can now well imagine what would happen on a serious losing streak. Say you lost the last spin, you would be down 79 units and your next wager would have to be 80 units, 79 + 1. The bets are now getting big and the table limit may reached which would destroy this betting system.
As you can see this system requires a large bank roll and plenty of nerves. With Oscar's Grind you can soon reach the table limit on a losing streak. Reaching the table limit will spoil the system and a losing streak will require a large bankroll.
