Roulette Rules of Play
The game of roulette is one of the most popular games at casino, whether played at an online or land-based institution. Roulette is an easy game to learn and the online casino version is no exception as it is analogous to the land-based game.
Although roulette is an easy to learn casino game, it would be wise to take a look at the rules and the gameplay.
Land Based Casinos
If you are playing at a land-based casino you are required to buy special roulette chips, these chips vary from the standard casino chips and can only be used at the roulette table. These chips can be bought from the croupier in stacks of twenty with regular money or casino chips, each player will declare the amount they are purchasing and the croupier will place a marker next to the chips denoting their value. These chips can be anything from 50c to the table maximum but they are seldom above $25 dollars. Each roulette table has its own supply of six or seven distinctly coloured chips in sets of 300, a player is assigned a unique colour that no-one else may use until the player leaves the table and surrenders the chips.
Online Casinos
When playing at an online casino you are not required to get special chips from the croupier, you simply load up your favourite version of roulette, whether it is American Roulette or European Roulette, and play, of course you need to fund your account first.
The virtual roulette wheel is spun by a RNG (random number generator), a RNG is a complex algorithm written in a computer programming language by some very smart folks.
Placing your bets at an virtual roulette table is as simple as selecting the chip denomination and left clicking on the table by the area where you wish to place your bet. An advantage of online roulette is you can take your sweet time as you have to press the spin button once you have completed placing your bets and not wait or hurry for the croupier.
Game Play
The roulette layout allows only one place to bet, if another player has already bet on a number you simply place your chips on top of theirs. The different coloured chips allow the croupier to keep track of players bets therefore allowing for quick resolution of arguments over who bet what where.
Make sure you understand minimum bets. You can now place your bet by selecting a spot on the roulette table. The croupier will spin the wheel and drop the ball, when the ball stops the croupier will mark the winning number, remove all the losing bets and leave the winning wagers which he then pays off. Players can now make bets until the croupier announces "No More Bets", all bets placed after the announcement are returned to the player whether they win or loose.
